My Revolution Diary
Journal Entry #1 1789 July 20th - October
I forgot to write the diary entry for a bit less than a month due to the fact that a lot of things were happening in this month. First of all, before I talk about what was happening about in Paris, I will talk about what was happening to me, of course, diary IS supposed to talk about daily life and such but I believe that I should have some political sayings as well.
Antoine de Bosc. That was the name of the pig that I had to work for these days. My construction company gave me and some of my mates to work for the new building that Antoine de Bosc was going to use to store his new artworks. I am going to put as series of structural flaws in the building so that if I hit specific part of the wall outside, everything will collapse. All right. For the future readers of my writing, you might be wondering, 'Do I hate everybody from the 2nd Estate?' No I don't. I only don't like people who doesn't like us, the Third Estate. Although de Bosc is all about philanthropy and being nice to people who are less privileged than him, that is just a facade. I accidentally overheard one of his secretaries at the drink bar. he said something like, 'Hey you know, I've read Mister Antoine's diary and do you know what it said? it said that the Third Estaters are ignorant, crude stray dogs, lack of class, culture, and education. That was extremely damaging to my honor. I got up and twisted that evil person's head 180 degrees so that his head faced back while his body faced forward. I escaped quickly and nobody recognized me. That day was 29th of June.
On 30th of June, I was working during the day as usual. There came person who said that he knows that I killed the secretary of the de Bosc family. He demanded me to pay him 100 breads or he would tell the guards who worked at the nearby station. I was outraged, I knew that I was going to pay more if I went to the guard and was found guilty. But 100 breads were a month of food for our family. I knew that I was lose or death situation due to Hammurabi Code of Law. The French were not very keen on preserving the history and such but when it came to matter such as this, they were like people with photographic memory. That was why I decided to take the third way, I decided to get rid of that guy. I told him, 'I will give you 100 loaves of breads.' He was trying pull his pen and paper out. I That was when I attacked. The guy was stronger than I thought. I did beat him anyway. That was when I felt the cold disapproving looks on my back. I recognized that feeling as a second estater. I turned around and there was a lady there. Right. the de Boscs were going to have a visitor today. I am sure that secretary said her name was... what was it again? ... Chloé Vigée. She went into the mansion.
The next important day was the July 14th. That was the day of the event that people call 'Storming of Bastille' Bastille was a prison in Paris. The rumor was that were were a lot of weapons, arms and ammunitions there. I heard that a bunch of the peasants ran there and completely ransacked the place. I heard that they executed the wardens there. I am not a violent person (regardless of what you think) and I would not cold-heartedly murder surrended men. I know the phrase 'don't give guns to angry people'. I see a large storm brewing in the future
Journal Entry #2 1789 September 2nd
What I am going to talk about today is when I transitioned into the new project. Yesterday while I was working as usual on the de Bosc display hall, my superior came to me and told me that I had a new place to work. I was to work on Avenue Champs-Elysees on the project name Chapms-Elysees Global project. The place was quite famous for cafes and theaters. It was also famous for Marie-Antoinette's music lessons. A lot of the 2nd estaters and few third estaters hung around there. For a person like me, I would not even ever dream of hanging around there. I could not buy anything that is sold there with everything that I have. I was organizing my leaving of the de Bosc display hall. I was really sad because my sabotage plan could not be completed to kill everybody inside in the grand opening day. That was when one of the project leads and CEO of our building company called Hugo Lloris came and visited me. Apparently, he was the one primarily vouched for my transition. I thought that he looked familiar. That was when there was surprise on both of our faces. I recognized him. He was in my class all throughout primary and middle school and we were best friends. I lost contact with him since but I still wanted to see him if possible. I am sure that this is the place where the expression 'the world is smaller than we thought' comes into play. I was working for him all this time and I did not even know and that was same with him. I wanted to talk in-depth with him but we both agreed that we were both busy. Him on his own business and me on organizing my new house, saying goodbyes to people who were working with me, and fixing the intensional faults I created. I didn't want an uncontrolled massacre. We decided to meet at a cafe near where I was supposed to work to catch up with each other tomorrow.
That was what happened yesterday. What happened today was that I had some time before I went to meet with Hugo. I decided to take a look at what club I would be joining. I checked two out and it was Jacobin and Girondin. My first thought was that I wanted to join the Girondins. That is because Jacobins looked... a bit... too ... radical. Yes that is the word. Radical. They both wanted the revolution of the things that was happening right now. That was when I went to the cafe. We talked about a lot of things including what we did after middle school, how the family was doing and how king Louis will try to escape. I didn't like the king because he took too much money from us. The bread was about 80 % of our income and it did not help that the nobles were leeching off my money. I talked to Hugo about the clubs Jacobines and Girondins. I said that Jacobins were violent and there was a event where Jacobins murdered about 50 people and explained my point to Hugo. He told me that Girondins were pro-nobles and if they did as they pleased, I was going to regret it later on. That is why I decided to join the Jacobins.
Journal Entry #3 1802 December 25th
Dear Sad Diary that I've abandoned for huge amount of years. I am finally married when I was 29 years of age in 1794 August 1st. Well, it's not subjectively old but I am glad that I got over this problem. I finally finished the Avenue project I am doing when Queen died in 1793. After all, the project was funded by the queen to make her life more famous. Hugo gave me another project involving the restoration of the Versailles after Louis trashed it with over-lavishness. The project officially started in 1794. I was coming to my semi-permanent home to the west of Versailles after I was finished with my work, I met a baker woman who seemed strangely familiar. I recognized her as Sophie Landry. She was my best friend because we lived next to each other until I moved for elementary school and befriended Hugo. I was quite happy to see her. She made me remember of the past and also she became a beautiful young woman. Since my project was going to take a while, we met each other and chatted about what happend and such. I also introduced Hugo (who was already married by that time) to her and we had fun together. The event what people call the French Revolution is now over. I will tell you what happend since my previous entry. First and the most important fact is that Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette are now dead. While I did not like the king of the taxes, I did not have a personal grudge against him. I feel sad because a lot of people died. In between 93 to 94, it was the reign of terror when all the Girondins were executed. I felt frightened and awed and thankful because Hugo saved me from making the wrong decision what could have killed me (Reference Last Entry). The Eight years of marriage have been a happy time. Since I am 37 now, I help Sophie on the bakery. It became a family business and a franchise. Hugo became a businessman after the Versailles job was done and invested in SAH Bakery. That was the name of the bakery now. A dude named Napoleon came into power after Maximilien Robespierre who was the leader in the Reign of Terror was executed. He seems a nice fellow but it seems Sophie has some negative feelings about the rejection of the Women's Rights. This will be my last entry since I am happy now
